The Bedfordshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy
The Environment Act was passed in November 2021, and included a duty for Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS) to be produced across the whole of the country. Local Nature Recovery Strategies are a new system of spatial strategies for protecting and improving the environment, including nature recovery – underpinning the delivery of the ‘Nature Recovery Network’. The Bedfordshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) has now been formally adopted and published. Central Bedfordshire Council were responsible for developing the strategy for Bedfordshire working closely with Luton Borough Council, Bedford Borough Council, Bedfordshire Local Nature Partnership and a range of other partners and stakeholders.

The Bedfordshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy includes:
- Priorities for nature recovery
- Map of the most valuable existing areas for nature
- Map of proposals for creating or improving nature and wider environmental benefits
The Bedfordshire LNRS is now moving into its delivery phase, with further information and guidance to follow.
