Accounting for Natural Capital Event – Thursday 17th May

Following our AGM the Beds LNP will be hosting a special event called “Accounting for Natural Capital” to mark the completion of the Natural Capital Investment Plan project for the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor on Thursday 17th May10.30am at Mitchell Hall, Cranfield University, Bedfordshire.  The Bedfordshire LNP led a ‘federation’ of LNPs across the Growth Corridor to bid for DEFRA funding to deliver this important piece of work that builds on the work of the Government’s Natural Capital Committee and their ‘How to do it’ Manual, and this event will report on this piece of work, looking at the challenges and opportunities of identifying natural capital and the potential opportunities to expand and create it at the Growth Corridor scale.

We will also have a keynote presentation from Rebecca Waite, DEFRA’s Head of Local Delivery for the 25 Year Environment Plan, plus presentations on how natural capital mapping can help identify route selection for major transport projects, and on Ecosystem Services mapping in Northamptonshire and Peterborough.

The event will be followed at 12.45pm by a networking lunch.  Places need to be booked by 5pm Thursday 10th May – please contact Jon Balaam (jon.balaam@greensandtrust.org).
